40, all day long.

I did actually turn 40, just like I promised earlier in the week.  I have to say I really just wanted to hide most of the day.  I want to be quiet, and invisible.  I felt that way when Russell had the whole bowling alley sing to me.  I felt that way when Phil made me go out to the college bar in Bloomington, Indiana. I definitely felt that way when I put on the foam crown that Amy had written “I turned 40 today” on.  But when that 27 year old dude at that bar couldn’t contain his laughter upon seeing my special hat and insisted on buying me a drink (ok, he bought one for Amy and Phil too) I felt a little better.  Maybe because by the time he bought the drink it wasn’t even my birthday anymore.  Thank God you only turn 40 once.
